Effective date: 20 August 2026Last updated: 20 August 2026
The short version
You must be 18 or over. No exceptions.
This isn't a dating app. Nobody gets matched, nobody gets introduced, and no one can find you here.
It isn't a background check. Never use it to decide whether to hire, house, employ or lend to someone.
You're writing about real people — Section 6 is what you're agreeing to when you do.
The AI can be wrong. It's software with an opinion, not a professional with a licence.
Subscriptions renew until you cancel, and you cancel through Apple or Google.
This summary is here to be useful, not to replace the rest. Where it and the full terms differ, the full terms govern.
1This agreement
These Terms are a contract between you and Dating Diaries, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Dating Diaries," "we," "us").
By creating an account, joining the waitlist, or using the Dating Diaries app or website (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
You must be 18 or older. By using the Service you confirm that you are, that you have the capacity to enter this contract, and that you aren't barred from using it under any law that applies to you.
You also confirm you aren't located in a country subject to a US government embargo, and aren't on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
3What the Service is — and is not
Dating Diaries is a private journal and social tool for keeping track of your own dating life and sharing it with people you choose.
It is not a dating app
We don't match you with anyone, we don't introduce you to anyone, and you cannot meet people through the Service.
It is not a background check service
You must not use the Service — or anything in it — to assess anyone's eligibility for employment, housing, credit, insurance, education, or any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act or a similar law. We are not a consumer reporting agency and the Service is not a consumer report.
It is not professional advice
Nothing in the Service is psychological, medical, legal or financial advice. If you're struggling, please talk to someone qualified. If you're in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
4Your account
Give us accurate information and keep it current.
Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
Tell us promptly at if you think someone else has got in.
One account per person. Don't let anyone else use yours.
5Your content
You keep all rights to what you write. We don't claim ownership of it.
You grant us a limited licence to store, process, display and transmit your content solely to operate the Service for you — which includes sending it to our AI providers to generate the responses you ask for, and showing it to the friends you choose to share it with.
We do not use your diary content for marketing. We do not sell it. We do not use it to train third-party AI models.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we can use them freely and without owing you anything. Please don't send us anything confidential you'd want back.
6Writing about other people
This is the most important section of these Terms.
The Service lets you record information about other people, who haven't signed up and in most cases don't know it exists. You are responsible for what you record and for what you share.
You agree that you will not:
Record or share information about anyone under 18
Post anything false and damaging about an identifiable person
Use the Service to harass, threaten, stalk, expose or intimidate anyone
Publish someone's home address, workplace, phone number or other identifying details in a way that helps others locate or contact them
Upload intimate images of any person
Record information about someone you know objects to it
Share content from the Service publicly, or outside the friend groups the Service provides
Use the Service to build a dossier on a person for any purpose beyond your own recollection
Record information you obtained unlawfully, or in breach of someone's confidence
You keep ownership of what you write, and you keep responsibility for it. You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from information you recorded or shared — see Section 19.
7Things you must not do
Beyond Section 6, you must not:
Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to break anyone else's rights
Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service by automated means
Reverse engineer, decompile, or try to derive our source code
Circumvent security, rate limits, or paywalls
Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit access to the Service
Use the Service to train a machine learning model
Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your connection to a person or organisation
Upload malware, or anything designed to disrupt the Service
Create a new account after we've terminated one of yours
8Friends and sharing
You choose what to share and with whom. You can revoke sharing at any time — though people who have already seen something can't un-see it, and we can't control what they do outside the Service.
Friends who rate or comment are bound by these same Terms. Ratings are submitted privately and shown only to the person who shared the list.
Don't screenshot and repost other people's diaries. What's shared with you was shared in confidence.
9AI features
The Service generates automated analysis — flags, scores and written responses.
Outputs are produced by software and can be wrong. They are not statements of fact about any person.
They are opinions generated from what you entered, and only as good as that input.
Don't rely on them for decisions about your safety, health, finances or legal position.
We may limit usage, change models, or modify these features at any time.
You can object to automated processing and ask for human review — see our Privacy Policy.
10Subscriptions and payment
What you get
Free: a limited number of people, limited daily AI messages, and unlimited voting on friends' lists.
Premium:$20 per month or $6.99 per week, with a one-week free trial for new subscribers.
How renewal works
Subscriptions renew automatically at the price above until you cancel. Your account is charged within 24 hours before each period ends. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge. If you cancel during the free trial, you won't be charged.
How to cancel
Cancel in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings. We cannot cancel an in-app purchase for you — the app stores control that, and deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds
Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, not by us. We'll help you contact them, but we can't issue a refund for a purchase we didn't process.
Price changes
We may change prices. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before an increase affects you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
11Codes and promotions
We may issue access codes, referral rewards or promotional offers giving free or discounted access. They are non-transferable, have no cash value, may be subject to their own terms, and may be revoked or expire. We may withdraw a promotion at any time.
12Apple and Google
If you downloaded the app from an app store, that store has its own terms, and the following applies.
Apple App Store
These Terms are between you and Dating Diaries only — not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
Your licence to use the app is a non-transferable licence to run it on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.
Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever.
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app — including product liability, failure to conform to legal requirements, and consumer protection claims.
We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and defending any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and have the right to enforce them against you.
Google Play
These Terms are between you and Dating Diaries, not Google. Google is not responsible for the app or its content, and your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.
13Reporting and moderation
If someone is using the Service to harass you, or you believe content about you is being held in it, write to . We take this seriously.
We review reports, and where a report is well-founded we may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate an account. We'll tell you the outcome, and if we act against your account we'll tell you why and give you a way to respond — unless the law prevents us.
We don't pre-screen content, and we're not obliged to monitor it. But we may remove anything that breaches these Terms.
14Copyright complaints
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to including: your contact details, identification of the work, identification of the material and where it is, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised, a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and you're authorised to act, and your signature.
We respond to valid notices under the DMCA and will terminate repeat infringers.
15Suspension and termination
You can delete your account at any time from within the app. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a subscription bought through an app store — cancel that separately.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if we reasonably believe your use puts another person at risk. Where practical we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond. Where the risk is immediate, we may act first and explain afterwards.
On termination, your content is deleted in line with our Privacy Policy.
To the Service: we may change, add or remove features. If we make a material change that significantly reduces what you paid for, you may cancel and ask for a pro-rata refund of any prepaid period.
To these Terms: we'll post the updated version here and change the date at the top. If a change is material, we'll notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the change.
17Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its outputs will be accurate.
18Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $100.
We aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, for lost profits or data, or for anything arising from decisions you made based on information in the Service.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you're a consumer in the UK, EU or Australia, you have statutory rights these Terms don't affect.
19Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms, or from information you recorded or shared about another person.
This doesn't apply to the extent a claim arises from our own negligence or wrongdoing, and it doesn't apply where the law says it can't.
20Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
Talk to us first. Most problems are solved faster by email than by lawyers. Write to and we'll try to sort it out within 30 days.
If we can't, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.
If you're a consumer in the UK, EU or Australia, this section doesn't take away your right to bring proceedings in your own country, or to rely on your own country's consumer protection law.
21Consumer rights
If you're a consumer in the UK or EU, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content. By starting a subscription and getting immediate access, you ask us to begin supplying it straight away and acknowledge that you lose that withdrawal right once supply has begun. Where the purchase was made through an app store, the store's own refund process applies.
If you're a consumer in Australia, our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits your statutory consumer rights.
22General
Severability — if a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
No waiver — if we don't enforce something, that's not a waiver of it.
Entire agreement — these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us.
Assignment — you may not assign these Terms. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
Notices — we'll contact you at your account email or in the app. Contact us at the address below.
Force majeure — neither of us is liable for failures caused by events genuinely outside our control.
Beta features — anything labelled beta or early access is provided without warranty and may change or disappear.
